LifeBreath Style Tai Chi / Chi Kung
The force we call Chi (Qi) is also used to describe air, breath, and internal energy. It is the fundamental life energy of the universe. Gong (kung) represents work or achievement.
Chi Kung is the practice of working with Breath and Universal Life Energy.
Chi Kung practices are used to gain control over the forces of energy in our bodies. The exercises can be used as a daily routine to increase overall health and well being, mental control, emotional clarity, and spiritual connection. Much like the LifeBreath Technique, Chi Kung is powerful and profound “medicine.” Through these exercises, we learn to discover, gather, circulate, purify, direct, conserve, store, transform, dissolve, and transmit chi. Chi cultivation can be used to resolve challenges or to enhance any living function. Used consistently, Chi Kung practitioners experience improved health and greater access to power and energy.
By adjusting and regulating our body’s posture and movement, breathing patterns, and consciousness (or thought), we make accessible to us the heavenly elixir of chi.
We are born with inherited amounts of chi, but we acquire it from air, water, food, and even sunlight, in which chi is all present. It travels along channels called meridians. There are twelve main meridians, corresponding to the twelve principal organs defined by traditional Chinese systems: the lung, large intestines, stomach, spleen, heart, small intestine, urinary bladder, kidney, liver, gallbladder, pericardium, and the “triple warmer.” Each of our organs has chi associated with it, along with corresponding emotional and mental energy. Chi Kung exercise influences the flow of chi and the organ and meridian health.
Karate
Karate is a way of life. It incorporates aspects of mind, body and spirit. Physically, Karate can be used for optimal fitness and self defense. Mentally, Karate increases our ability to focus and concentrate. It also will develop great self discipline and fortitude. Spiritually, a sense of inner strength, character, fulfillment and connection will grow over time.
